4th Battalion, 31st Infantry Regiment of the Americal Division
in a bloody, running battle against NVA regulars. |

In May of 1967 I photographed the final assault on this hill near the DMZ.
It was, to that point, the war's bloodiest battle. |

Valentine's Day, 1967, I was with a squad that was ambushed and cut off.
Luckily it was led by an extraordinary man, Sgt. Joe Musial, better known
as Sgt. Rock. |
